(More customer reviews)These little candles can be picked up in the grocery store or here on Amazon very inexpensively. They are unscented and last for many hours despite the compact size so they are very handy to have on hand for power emergencies. Everyone should keep a couple on hand but few do.
I have never had the glass break or have the bottom heat up enough to actually harm the counter top.
An alternative to keep on hand for emergencies also readily available at the grocery store are the religious candles marketed to Hispanics which burn much longer due to their larger size. I do prefer these smaller ones myself.
A tip is to drop a box or folder of matches into the jar so that if the power does go out, you can find the candle by feel and not have to fumble around in the junk drawer looking for matches.
