It makes home-cooked Asian style meals taste authentic. In addition, I like to add a few drops to a bowl of miso soup for a richer, more complex broth. It is available (in Maine at least) at Shaw's Supermarkets and at local health food stores for just over $5 for a 12.7 oz. bottle.
